Red Deer Elections
Nominations will be accepted by the Returning Officer.
Changes to the Local Authorities Election Act allow the Returning Officer to accept nominations throughout the nomination period which ends at 12 p.m. on Nomination Day (Monday, September 22, 2025).
Please note that once a candidate has successfully filed their nomination papers with the Returning Officer, they will be included under "Official Candidates". If a candidate's nomination forms are not accepted by the Returning Officer by Nomination Day, they will not become an "Official Candidate" and will not be included on the ballot.

Eligible signatures: Persons signing a candidate’s nomination paper must be an eligible elector in Red Deer and the form must include original hand-written signatures. Digital signatures are not accepted.
Minimum signatures: It is recommended that candidates obtain more than the minimum required number of electors to sign the form in case one or more electors are not eligible to nominate.
Signed paper: This form must be signed by a Commissioner for Oaths in and for Alberta or the Returning Officer.
