Identification

Forms of Acceptable Identification

The following are acceptable forms of identification (ID) at a voting station, if they include your full name and current address.

Vouching

If an elector does not have acceptable identification with their current address, they may have another elector vouch for them.

That person (the voucher) must:

  • be eligible to vote,
  • have acceptable identification,
  • be listed on the permanent elector register (PER), and
  • at the voting station, complete Form 14 - Statement of Voucher.

Form 14 - Statement of Voucher sets out that the voucher:

  • knows the person,
  • knows the person resides at the address indicated on the statement, and
  • has not been vouched for themselves.

A voucher may only vouch for more than one person, if the people they are vouching for live in the same residence (one household maximum).

Scrutineers are prohibited from vouching.

Election Fact:

The information in the permanent electors register (PER) may only be used to verify elector eligibility.
