What are Special Ballots?

Special Ballots, also known as mail-in-ballots, are ballots sent out to electors on the Permanent Electors Register who request them because they are unable to vote at an Advance Vote or at a voting station on Election Day.

Please make sure you are registered to vote before applying for a Special Ballot. Go to http://www.voterlink.ab.ca/ to register or find more information on the Voter Information and Requirements page.

Special Ballot Packages can either be mailed to electors or scheduled for pick up from City Hall during regular business hours.

Completed Special ballot Packages can be mailed back to City Hall (addressed to the Returning Officer) or can be dropped off at City Hall during regular business hours. Special Ballot Packages must be received by an employee of City Hall; they CANNOT be placed in the exterior drop boxes, as this will result in the ballots being rejected.

Ballots must be received by the Returning Officer by October 20, 2025, at 4:30pm.

You can apply for Special ballot between August 1, 2025, and October 14, 2025, at 4:30 p.m. at: https://specialballots.reddeer.ca/.
