    GOODWIN, Adam GOODWIN, Adam

    GOODWIN, Adam

    For City Councillor
    City of Red Deer

    About the Candidate

I want to help you be heard. Your voice needs to matter; the city council must have a strong emphasis on the needs and concerns of the people of Red Deer. I moved to Red Deer in the early 1990s. I've raised two amazing children, been blessed with two fantastic grandchildren, built a career I’m proud of, and committed myself to serving this city that has given me so much. I am an operations leader and the Board Chair for Habitat for Humanity, Red Deer, and a living organ donor. Thank you!

    Candidate Priorities

Economic development and fiscal responsibilityI believe that council can take a strong position in attracting new business with policies that are favorable to companies, such as reasonable tax rates compared to the county. Setting a budget cap and working with operations to allocate resources.
Housing and affordabilityCutting red tape and improving the process to get housing projects approved and working. Finding a balance between affordability and availability takes a concerted and shared effort.
Public safety and community well beingThis includes traditional policing and emergency services, as well as newer challenges around homelessness, mental health, and downtown safety concerns. We must address crime prevention, community safety programs, and dealing with social disorder
Infrastructure development and maintenanceFrom the electric light and power utilities to the sewers and roads, Red Deer is growing and we need to be ahead of the curve. Better capital allocation and long term planning help ensure infrastructure development stays ahead of population growth.
Transport and transitPeople are becoming increasingly reliant on public transport, and we have an obligation to get people to where they need to be on time. This will involve planning and using AI infrastructure modelling to find routes and capacity limits.
