About the Candidate

John retired from teaching after thirty years in 2023. Twenty five of those he was blessed to have been with Red Deer Catholic Schools in a variety of settings from teaching at all three levels in many different subject areas through to an administrative role. His children went through Red Deer Catholic and now his grandchildren are in catholic schools also. He also brings a wealth of knowledge from the private sector as he owned three successful businesses along the way.

Candidate Priorities

Advocate for students.	John’s first priority has never wavered when it comes to education. He is an advocate for the needs of our students. His views are simple. If it does not benefit the students, we should not be doing it.
Be a support for all stake holders,	John has always been open and available for the parents to discuss whatever is needed. Being a link between the school, the church, and the home is an important part of our catholic schools and it is a role he takes very seriously.
Bringing real world learnings to the table.	John has owned three successful businesses. Things such as project management, financial responsibility when dealing with large capital expenditures, and the importance of great staffing are just a few of the things he will bring forth as a trustee.
Preparation with real world skills.	Students need to be ready to face the challenges of the world beyond school. With support from the church and parents, our schools need to ensure we teach them the skills and attitudes to be successful members of society.
