About the Candidate
Being a trustee has been a great privilege and opportunity to make a difference in children’s lives. With this valuable experience I am prepared to focus on the various priorities to support student learning while working within the financial challenges of these tough economic times. I recognize that providing an excellent education includes addressing children’s emotional, mental and physical well being and I believe students are most successful when parents and teachers work as partners.
Candidate Priorities
| Focusing on student success. | Each student comes to us with their own unique needs and circumstances.. We must support children in striving for academic and personal success in a nurturing, safe and vibrant community. Their wellness, as well as that of staff, must be emphasized. |

| Relationships are key. | I prioritize relationships. As a trustee, respect, communication, accountability and listening to differing viewpoints are crucial. With my fellow trustees, I have focused on trust, frankness, conflict resolution and working towards common goals. |
| Red Deer Public builds a community of support. | I recognize the importance of parents in their child’s education and the dedication and commitment of teachers and other staff members for their integral role in supporting success. Building community, working as a team, with students at the heart. |
| Comprehensive support and dedicated staff. | I know that the complexity of student needs within the classrooms has made the work of teachers more difficult. Supporting teachers, plus providing services and resources for students in their learning and personal growth is very important to me. |
| Advocating for an excellent education. | Trustees represent their school communities and are advocates for public education. I recognize that a broad based and excellent education is an investment in everyone’s future and supports each student in reaching their full potential. |
