    SCOTT, Gareth

    For Mayor
    City of Red Deer

    About the Candidate

As a retired senior manager, and small business owner. I've lived 25+ years in Alberta and 9 in Red Deer, I bring strong leadership to our city. I am committed to safety, fiscal responsibility, and accountable government. The priorities are: reducing red tape, lowering taxes, supporting families, businesses, maintaining infrastructure, housing, and building a thriving secure future for everyone in Red Deer. We believe in this city! It's time for action, for positive change-let's do it together!

    Candidate Priorities

Safe Streets and Strong CommunitiesEvery resident deserves to feel safe in their home and on every street in Red Deer. We’ll focus on both emergency response and proactive community safety. The down town needs to be revitalized with new ideas and development.
Economic Growth and Private InvestmentRed Deer will be open for business by cutting red tape, streamlining permitting. By creating a culture at City Hall that welcomes developers, entrepreneurs, and job creators. Our focus will be on attracting private investment, not growing government.
Fair Taxes and Smarter ZoningWe need to balance the tax burden while encouraging smart development. Zoning and property taxes should support, not hinder growth.
Fixing InfrastructureOur roads, sidewalks, waterlines, and transit systems must be maintained before chasing costly new projects.
Strong Neighborhoods and Housing ChoiceRed Deer needs a housing plan built for every class of buyer. Delivered by private-sector builders and innovators, with the cities co-operation. Not high-cost government projects.
