Red Deer Elections
For Red Deer Public School Division Trustee
City of Red Deer
A strong voice for every learner, every future. For 4 years, I’ve proudly served as your trustee; speaking up for students and parents. I understand diverse learning needs firsthand, taking action to make schools inclusive, safe, supportive, and high-quality for all students, teachers and EAs. As a parent of 3 RDPSD students, along with my educational experiences and business background, I believe positively shaping children’s futures builds a strong society for us all. Re-elect SOMMERS, Angela.
Mental Health & Supportive Schools | With lived experience of neurodiversity, I know the barriers students face when supports aren’t in place and how the right tools can open doors once thought closed. Every student deserves opportunities to thrive within a healthy school environment. |

My work is always about Action | As trustee, I brought forward motions to protect staff and students advocating for free COVID-19 vaccinations, promoting inclusive school sports policies, championing equity across education and flying the Pride Flag at Central Services. |
Accountability & Future Ready Education | I am passionate about public education and equipping students with the skills, confidence, and creativity needed for tomorrow’s world. Responsible, adaptable students able to take on a world shaped by AI, green tech, and careers we can’t yet imagine. |
Fostering Passion, Growth, and Lifelong Learning | RDPSD’s incredible choices: French & Spanish Immersion, Christian K-12, Alternative High, Sports & Fire Academies, IB, Dual Credit, and Trades. I advocate for options that challenge student strengths, spark passions, and fosters critical thinking. |
Public Schools that Welcome Every Child | Public dollars are being siphoned away to private and charter schools while Alberta spends the least per student in Canada. I will continue to fight for every dollar to stay in truly public schools that welcome every child, from every background. |
