    WYNTJES, Dianne

    For City Councillor
    City of Red Deer

    About the Candidate

Thank you for the honour to serve as one of your current City Councillors. If re-elected, I bring awareness, knowledge and commitment on many municipal issues and challenges facing Red Deer. There is value with Councillors who have background and experience when working together with new Councillors. Your next Council looks to financial decisions, affordability, infrastructure investment, safety, communicating with you and always endeavouring for a better quality of life in Red Deer.

    Candidate Priorities

FINANCIAL DECISIONSAttention to the City’s “financial road map” for strong financial health to replenish City reserves, reasonable tax rates in the economic realities, and showing community there is value when and where our tax dollars are spent with more transparency.
LOOKING AFTER WHAT WE HAVELessons are learned for all municipalities from Calgary’s failing water infrastructure. This means continued investment, maintenance and attention to infrastructure, amenities and supporting the diverse services a municipality provides.
PARTNERSHIPSHealthy businesses with jobs and services are key for a thriving city. When we look to economic growth and development in Red Deer, the next Council will look to the community’s Economic Development Committee recommendations for this important work.
CONNECTIONSTo quote, “all of us are smarter than one of us”. As Council, it is important to engage and connect with community, the business sector, round table conversations, and to engage, listen and learn.
ADVOCACYTaxpayers and municipalities depend on funding grants from the Province and Federal governments for tax dollars returned to Red Deer to assist with some programs and services. These government relations and conversations are important and ongoing.
