For City Councillor
City of Red Deer
Since leaving Provincial politics in 2008, I’ve kept busy with work, grandchildren, and volunteering. Briefly: Investment Advisor, COO of Insurance Brokerage, Executive Director of Central Alberta Refugee Effort and now Director of Finance at Etana Supports Society. FCPA, FCGA Accounting Professional. Volunteer activities include Chair of Red Deer Hospice and Red Deer Ten Thousand Village Boards. I love backpacking, the most memorable a 3-week trek on the iconic John Muir Trail.
|No to Mandatory Vaccines||While mandatory vaccines policies are popular, they are divisive and directed at the wrong source. No one should fear for their jobs or be excluded from Society because of a personal health decision. Fight the virus, not each other.|
|Stay Focused on City Issues||Avoid “mission drift” – stick to City mandates. My top five: Basic Infrastructure (roads, water, and sewer); Affordability (Taxes and levies); Community Safety; Planning and Development; Recreational Infrastructure.|
|Emphasis on Recreation and Parks Infrastructure||Red Deer citizens rank recreational opportunities as a high priority. Staying local for the past two years has highlighted the importance of City trails and recreational infrastructure. These should be high priority budget items.|
|Improve on Economic Underpinnings||Continually assess our tax, levies, and fee competitiveness. Remove unnecessary regulatory burdens or roadblocks.|
|Keep it Old School||Show up, work hard, live within your means. You’ll get dedicated work from me, without fanfare and virtue signaling. My decisions will reflect honest work and collaboration.|
