Campaign Contribution and Expense Reports

Candidates are required to file their election campaign disclosure statements under Part 5.1 of the Local Authorities Election Act. As per the Act, disclosure statements are available for viewing during regular business hours for a period of 4 years after the election.

All candidates must declare campaign contributions, expenses, and the resulting surplus or deficit. Note, there are two different filing deadlines:

  • October 1, 2025: for the period of January 1, 2025 to July 31, 2025
  • March 2, 2026: for the period of January 1, 2025 to December 31, 2025

Disclosure statements are public documents and are available for viewing during regular business hours for four years following the election. For questions regarding the content of a candidate’s disclosure statement, please contact the candidate directly.

All candidates (Mayor, Councillor or School Trustee) are responsible for reviewing the relevant sections of the Local Authorities Election Act to ensure they are compliant with all requirements. The City of Red Deer does not review campaign disclosure statements for accuracy, completeness, or legality, and does not provide assurances regarding their content.
